Traveling just past Abergavenny, on the way to the Breacon, we were looking for a restaurant that was mentioned in February's issue of the The Observer Food Monthly. Driving towards the Breacons, the Nantyffin Cider Inn is a few miles past the town of Crickhowell. As the name suggests, the restaurant and pub has something to do with cider, and in its former days was the local cider mill, which is revealed in the restaurant by its homage to its past cider making.

Visiting there for a Sunday lunch, I started with a Cauliflower Soup with Croutons and Truffle Oil. Very tasty! Sarah had a Goat Cheese and Red Onion Tart. Both starters were flavoursome and enjoyable.

For mains, I had the Char grilled Rib eye of Best Beef, while Sarah had a second starter, being Duck 'Bang Bang', which didn't disappoint us as both were excellent.

Certainly a restaurant to visit when in Wales. We found the food to be of a very good standard and the service to be friendly and relaxed. We certainly enjoyed our Sunday Lunch in the Wilds of Wales.
